I hope they grip for a little 496 cubic inch motor that I have planned for summer of 2014.

Well I think there is plenty of room between the tire and the fenderwell so the 1.5 drop springs will work pretty https://scontent-a-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/1395173_10201609749459198_1992882551_n.jpg

No more than 5" of back spacing.  Less if using a soft sidewall tire like a street or drag slick.  I tried 5.5" with 295s and the tires hit the frame rail even before the lug nuts were installed.

I had 295/50s on 15x10s w/5" bs with no rubbing on either the frame rail or fender lip.  295s are 11.6 inches wide, so 15x12s should work, but I wouldn't go any wider than a 310 tire on them (12.2").  Something like a 20x12 wheel might work better because of less sidewall to flex and rub, plus it'll give you WAY better handling.

    Post  Big C Wed Oct 15, 2014 12:13 am

Ran those radials on my car..Had to make all kinds of suspenion adjustments to get them to hook..I can say this from my exp..They will not hook with poor track prep..On the street you can forget it..

I just mounted some MT 28x11.5 15's street slicks.I lost almost .2 going to the street slicks. The radials are not as forgiveing as a slick..If your suspenion is set up correctly the radials will be a faster tire..A radial wants to roll not a bias ply..

    Just my 2 cents...

Cool , I agree it's more in the suspension than anything even this old 305 can bark the 295 50 15s on the

back if motivated and were talking maybe 141rwhp on a good day lol. The biggest slick can be overcome by

enough torque especially if the suspension geometry isn't right for traction. On the street back when, I relied on

air  shocks as I could run slightly weaker springs (or broken rofl)and let the air out of the shocks and then tires to

about 20psi. That worked but only so much one Mopar 360 I had it was part throttle launches or a smoke show.

Tree front sway bar had to be removed to ytransfer weight faster..Then had to put 3 way adjustable Comp Enginer shocks on all 4 corners..Then dialing in the shocks.Oh man I dont want to recall the headaches to get things right..It was worth it with the Drag Radials learned a lot about what my suspenion wanted to make the tire work..Now back to bias ply's..6 passes on some fresh MT street slicks 28x11.5 15's.

I wanted to run the D/R's once again..What made me go to the bias ply street slick my home track does very little track prep..I was chaseing my tail a majority of the time at the track trying to get the radials to hook..I came to conclusion..If the track prep is not there suspenion, tire air pressure is not correct things wont happen..Had to check tire psi constantly after each pass..Most times had to release at least 2 pounds.Psi will sky rocket after a burn out.The bias ply MT's are real bad in that nature.

A slick will perform in the worst conditions vs a radial..I like to concentrate on R/T and shift points and not worry if the car will hook or not behind the tree if you catch my drift..
