    Proportioning Valve Empty Proportioning Valve

    Post  Jakers01 Sun Aug 02, 2015 8:54 pm

I am just finishing converting my 2 door 78 caprice to a 94 9c1 rear end with disk brakes. Also installed 94 front spindles to accomidate 12" rotors and 5x5 bolt pattern. I have installed 94 brake booster, master cylinder and proportioning valve. I have installed stealth bolt mod kit. My question is... how do I deal with the old proportioning valve that's mounted to the frame. Can I gut it exept for the pin that separates front and rear circuits? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thx

The old one is no longer used. Remove it and throw it out. Install new fluid lines. Viola', all set!

    * Don't forget - The newer master cylinder and Combo valve use metric fittings and BUBBLE flares on the lines.

Jeez.... I was afraid of that. Was thinking I could take old valve, drill and tap the thru hole for a 1/16 pipe plug on both sides. then it would be just a manifold with separate circuits.
I will have to redo tubing from new valve to old valve.
    Thx

You should have used a 90 caprice master cylinder and booster only need two adapter fittings and an eBay combo valve (chrome $50 opens up the rear brakes I've tested/ask my four 10ft long skid on the road when someone cut me off)
FYI primaries and secondarily swap locations on the master cylinder so just gently pull and bend /manipulate them to cross easy other and putting the fittings adapters (9/16x18 to 1/2"x20 &Vic versa)) and done. The combo valve is plus and play so is the booster.

I did the exact swap you did, and I just had to remove the old proportion valve down on the drivers side frame, and connected the rest of the lines together
